FAQ
Delivery
How is a Murphy bed delivered?
By freight truck, not a parcel van. Your bed ships crated from a US warehouse; when it reaches your local freight terminal, the carrier calls you to schedule a delivery appointment. The driver delivers curbside with a liftgate. Full walkthrough in our Shipping Policy.
What does “curbside delivery” actually mean?
The driver brings the boxes to your curb or driveway — not inside your home. Boxes are heavy (often 150–300 lbs total across several boxes), so have a helper ready to carry them in.
Do I need to be home?
Yes — an adult (18+) must be present to inspect the shipment and sign the delivery receipt. The carrier schedules a window with you in advance, so you will not be surprised.
What should I do before I sign the delivery receipt?
Count the boxes, inspect for damage, and write any damage on the receipt before signing (be specific: “puncture, 6 inches, top right of box 2”). Can’t fully inspect? Write “possible concealed damage.” Two minutes of care fully protects your purchase.
How long does delivery take?
In-stock beds process in 1–4 business days, then freight transit takes 2–10 business days — typically 7–16 business days total, with tracking emailed within 24 hours of shipment.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes — free curbside freight delivery on every bed, throughout the contiguous 48 states.
Damage & Returns
What if my bed arrives damaged?
It costs you nothing — note it on the delivery receipt, send us photos within 5 days (7 days for damage found after unboxing), and we handle the freight claim and ship replacement parts free. Please don’t refuse the delivery unless damage is severe: parts arrive in days, a re-shipped bed takes weeks.
Can I return my bed if I change my mind?
Yes — within 30 days of delivery, as long as it is unassembled, never installed, and in original packaging. Change-of-mind returns carry a 20% restocking fee and you arrange return freight. Example: on a $1,500 bed you would receive $1,200 back, minus your return freight cost. Full details in our Return & Refund Policy.
Can I return a bed after assembling it?
No — once a bed is assembled or wall-mounted it cannot be returned. If something is wrong with it, that is a warranty matter and we will fix it — see our Warranty page.
Can I cancel my order?
Free any time before shipment — email us fast, because most orders ship within 1–4 business days. After shipment, cancellation is handled as a return.
The Beds
Are Murphy beds comfortable for every-night sleep?
Yes. Unlike sofa beds, Murphy beds and cabinet beds use real mattresses on supportive platforms — they are designed as everyday beds.
Do I need to attach the bed to my wall?
Vertical Murphy beds and wall beds anchor to the wall or floor for safety. Cabinet beds do not — they are freestanding furniture, ideal for renters.
What mattress do I need?
It varies by model — most wall beds take a standard mattress up to a stated thickness (commonly 8–12 inches), and many cabinet beds include a tri-fold mattress. The product page for each bed lists exactly what fits; unsure, just ask us.
How hard is assembly?
Plan for two people and a few hours with basic tools. Every listing describes what assembly involves for that model. If a part is missing or damaged, we ship a replacement free.
Who backs the warranty — you or the manufacturer?
Both: your bed carries its manufacturer’s defect warranty, and we handle every claim for you — one email to us, and we deal with the maker. Details on our Warranty page.
